What is AZGV

The purpose of Arizona Gay Volleyball Association (AZGV) is to foster local, regional, national and international sports competition predominately for gays, lesbians and anyone dedicated to promotion of the amateur athletic experience for persons of all skill level and abilities regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, creed, religion or national origin. The primary focus of Arizona Gay Volleyball Association will be to provide venues for adult volleyball competition. Additionally, the organization will endeavor to develop people of all abilities and experience to participate in sports competitions.

AZGV offers and organizes 3 levels of outdoor, sand volleyball play: A, B, and C divisions in 6-man format as well as A and B divisions in 4-man format.

Where and When we Play

All games are played at Indian Steele Park, located off Central Avenue just north of Indian School Road in Downtown Phoenix (300 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85012) or at The Radisson Hotel City Center, located off 2nd Avenue just north of Osborn Road (3600 North 2nd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85013).

The 6-man format A and C divisions play at Indian Steele Park on Monday nights. The 6-man format B division plays at the Radisson Hotel on Monday nights. The 4-man format A and B divisions play at Indian Steele Park on Tuesdays nights.

Registration

Team fees are $80 for Tuesday night teams with up to 6 on the roster and $90 for Monday night teams with up to 8 on each roster. Fees are due before the start of every season. Teams must pay online via PayPal or with certified payment (cashiers check, money order, etc). To pay via PayPal, please use our convenient payment page. Please make certified payment payable to Arizona Gay Volleyball Association.

Registration opens for the Summer season on May 1st.

Only 8 teams will be allowed in each division except the 6-man (Monday) B division which will be allowed 9 teams. After this, a waiting list will be created. Registrations will be accepted in order of the teams that pay. Only teams that have paid will be allowed to play.

Season Kick Off Party

We will be having a season kick off party on June 7, 2012 at a location to be determined. Join us to celebrate the league, help the new players get integrated onto teams, meet your new board members, and get your questions answered about any league changes. We will be there to help any teams get registered for the season and pay their fees as registration closes on June 7, 2012.

Board Meetings

Board meetings are held the third Monday of the month. Anyone that is interested is welcome to attend these meetings. The next board meeting will be May 21, 2012 at 7:00 pm at a location to be determined.
