What is AZGV

The purpose of Arizona Gay Volleyball Association (AZGV) is to foster local, regional, national and international sports competition predominately for gays, lesbians and anyone dedicated to promotion of the amateur athletic experience for persons of all skill level and abilities regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, creed, religion or national origin. The primary focus of Arizona Gay Volleyball Association will be to provide venues for adult volleyball competition. Additionally, the organization will endeavor to develop people of all abilities and experience to participate in sports competitions.

AZGV offers and organizes 3 levels of outdoor, sand volleyball play: A, B, and C divisions in 6-man format as well as A/B and B/C divisions in 4-man format.

Where and When we Play

Games are played at Indian Steele Park, located off Central Avenue and Farrington Lane just north of Indian School Road (300 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85012), at The Phoenix Place Hotel (formerly The Radisson Hotel City Center), located off 2nd Avenue just north of Osborn Road (3600 North 2nd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85013), or at Margaret T Hance Park located off Central and Culver Street above the I-10 freeway (1134 North Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004).

The 6-man format C division plays at Indian Steele Park on Monday nights. The 6-man format A division plays at Margaret T Hance Park on Monday nights. The 6-man format B division plays at The Phoenix Place Hotel (formerly The Radisson Hotel City Center) on Monday nights. The 4-man format A/B and B/C divisions play at Indian Steele Park on Tuesdays nights.

Registration

Team fees are $80 for Tuesday night teams with up to 6 on the roster and $90 for Monday night teams with up to 8 on each roster. Fees are due before the start of every season. Teams must pay online via PayPal or with certified payment (cashiers check, money order, etc). To pay via PayPal, please use our convenient payment page. Please make certified payment payable to Arizona Gay Volleyball Association.

For the Summer season, registration opens in person at the season kickoff party on on May 23, 2013 at 7:00 pm at TBD (Unknown). You may register online starting the day after the season kickoff party. All fees are due by June 4, 2013.

Only 9 teams will be allowed in each of the 6-man (Monday) divisions except the 6-man (Monday) C division which will be allowed 11 teams. Only 8 Teams will be allowed in the 4-man (Tuesday) night division. After this, a waiting list will be created. Registrations will be accepted in order of the teams that pay. Only teams that have paid will be allowed to play.

Season Kick Off Party

Thanks for everyone that came out to Apollo's for the season kickoff party. We had a blast meeting you all and registering teams. We are looking forward to a great season!

Board Meetings

Board meetings are usually held the third Tuesday of the month. Anyone that is interested is welcome to attend these meetings. The next board meeting will be June 18, 2013 at 7:00 pm at Indian Steele Park (300 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85012).
